Structure-Function relation of buried solid/liquid interfaces

Structure-Function relation of buried solid/liquid interfaces

HD-VSFG spectroscopy was initially applicable only to exposed interfaces such as the air/water interface. Recently, we have succeeded in extending its applicability to buried solid/liquid interfaces such as silica/water interfaces. By the use of solid substrates, we can construct more complex, functionalized interfaces. Thus, it became possible to apply our advanced spectroscopic method to systems that are important for the material science. Now, we are trying to understand the relation between microscopic structure and macroscopic function of material interfaces.
