Hydrogen bond dynamics at the air/water interface

Hydrogen bond dynamics at the air/water interface

Understanding hydrogen bond dynamics of water at interfaces is of essential importance for elucidating water-matter interactions. Because it is known that bulk water dynamics is extremely faster than other liquids, femtosecond time-resolution is required for studying the water dynamics. We are investigating the hydrogen bond dynamics of water at the air/water interface using time-resolved HD-VSFG and two-dimensional HD-VSFG spectroscopies which were developed in our laboratory, This study will reveal how the hydrogen bond dynamics differs from that of bulk phase.
